7/30/2016 Day one Edinburgh

Pokemons are a very good thing.  The rest of the family have been catching them for awhile.  Yoshi is getting the longest walks of his life, and everyone offers to take him, which is a change.  The kids showed me how to play and helped me set up my phone while we were in the check in line at KLM.  We all played and time passed very quickly through all the lines.  I was a level 3 by the time I got on the plane.

Airplanes are getting smaller!!! 9+hours to Amsterdam jammed into a cattle car! Alec and I traded seats because he had a entertainment system box taking up most of his leg room.  Jef and Branwen traded after awhile because Branwen's screen didn't work.  The food was terrible!  But, everyone  on the plane was pleasant.

Amsterdam airport gave us a chance to stretch our legs.  We didn't need to go through any passport control, so could look at the shops and try to catch more Pokemons.

The plane to Edinburgh had lots of leg room.  It makes no sense.  Edinburgh airport is a little scitzoid - our passport control and baggage pickup was in a barn.  Then we went through a lovely area that is the rest of it.  We picked up our car.  We got a "van".  It is really a station wagon with jump seats, but it holds all of us with room for all of our suitcases, so we are comfortable.

In Edinburgh we are all in one large room.  (16 Pilrig). It has 2 singles and 2 doubles, a tiny tiny bathroom.  It is larger than it looked in the picture so there is room to put our luggage.  There are also enough plugs for our electronics.  (This is important, we have more Pokemons to catch.) I need the bed closest to a plug for my CPAP.

We wanted something easy for dinner, so we found a nice fish and chips place called the Tailend just a block away.  We shared an appetizer of deep fried haggis nuggets.

Back in the room, we showered and went to bed - even though the sun was still shining.  (Let's face it, we are pretty far north, so the sun will always be shining.)  There is a moritorium on electronics until 6 am.  If anyone wakes up before that, they are to keep their eyes shut and rest.

Hi Joan, Alec, Jef, Calder, and Branwen. So glad you made the trip across the pond uneventfully. Looking forward to reading more as you venture about Edinburgh.
