Another lovely day in Cleveland. After breakfast we drove along Lake Erie to a pier that Janet wanted to show me. She and her husband used to walk on it on nice days. Unfortunately it was closed for repairs so we visited another pier that wasn’t as good. We still had a great view of downtown Cleveland. We could see the football stadium and the hotel we stayed at for last year’s Jane Austen conference. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame was hidden by the stadium.
Janet and Stacy
After the waterfront we went to the Friday Farmer’s Market. The fruits and vegetables stands were showing that it was the end of the season. The butcher and bakery stands were almost overwhelming in their abundance. Janet bought steaks for tomorrow night. I loved that a stall just inside the door was Free Books for Kids.
We walked down the street to Nik's for a middle eastern lunch.
We had the combo plate with another salad.
Nicely filled we walked to a Hungarian bakery to pickup tonight’s dessert.
Janet meant to just change her clothes before watering the lawn but instead fell asleep on her bed and took a little nap. I did wonder why the house was so quiet, but after a time she reappeared. We read until dinner.
We had peach spritzers on the patio while chicken and squash grilled and all 4 of us chatted and watched the chipmunks dash around. They were much too fast for a photo. This was the tree that last year was all red, orange, and yellow.
Dinner:
Dessert was Napoleons and gerbauds (shortbread with raspberry and walnut filling and chocolate on top.
Totally stuffed but it was worth it. After the news and Jeopardy, I checked in with the knitting guild’s zoom meeting to make sure that the members in El Segundo were not affected by the refinery fire. ( Aside from having to keep inside with their doors and windows closed, and having a helicopter hover over their heads all day all was OK.)
