Day 7 Sept 18 Thursday We are being kind

Back to Jeanette’s. She is the elderly widow.

She showed us a tapestry that we thought was real, but she had needlepointed it. I was tremendously impressed.

The purpose of the visit was to return her wedding photo. She was married 58 years.

We lunched again at the Chinese restaurant. We suggested some other places nearby, but ½ block is a far as she can manage.
This place has the best shrimp toasts I have ever had. Most taste like Styrofoam to me.

She had the fish sticks again:

Marie and I shared 5 spices duck and the Thai salad with shrimp.

Then we walked ALL THE WAY HOME. (I am saving all of the views of Paris till the end when I will do a slide show.) We froze in the apartment until it was time for dinner. It even felt a little warmer when we went outside.

That night we went to a little restaurant down the street. Les Pieds dans le plat, which I think translates to “The feet in the dish.”

Since I was so cold, I started with French Onion soup. Marie decided to have a salmon theme and started with Salmon Tartar.

Then I had the duck, which was supposed to come with figs, but instead came with foie gras which I adore.

Marie had Salmon on mashed potatoes with warm goat cheese on top. She felt the cheese was a little overpowering.

We shared a duo of chocolate mousse – white and dark.
Now, with our tummies warming us nicely, we went home to computer, read and bed.
