Walked along Rue de Rivoli searching for pencil sharpeners in the shape of the Eiffel tower. There do not seem to be any. Most of the tchotcky shops really don’t even have pencil sharpeners.
The really good side effect of this walk was stopping at Angelina for lunch. This place is really, really, really famous for their hot chocolate. We shared a club sandwich that came with a little salad and a cup of fries to lay down a base for the sugar. Since fall is in the air (mid 60’s) we felt we could indulge
They melt 2 chocolate bars in a little milk and serve it with whipped cream. It deserves to be famous.
Stopped at our favorite shirt shop for a little visit and a purchase and then on to Galleries Lafayette. We had seen many posters in the Metro advertising a “dance under the dome”, which looked like something from Cirque de Soleil. Instead we got really bad dancers in funky clothes. I should have made a movie of the horses - they moved better.
Returned home by way of the Madeline and Rue Faubourg St. Honore. I sat with my feet up while Marie shopped for the ingredients for veal stew. Then we went out and bought 2 dozen oysters, salad greens and bread for dinner.
We shucked the oysters ourselves and had a wonderful dinner.
