Feeling much better, I started exploring again. Chuck was a little taken aback when I said that I wouldn't be eating lunch with him. He really couldn't deal with getting back to the hotel on his own after breakfast, so I took pity on him and escorted him back. I kept the taxi and off I went.
This tour group was posing in front of the gate that is Tsinghua's symbol. I loved their jackets. The taxi driver obligingly slowed down so I could snap it. (There is always someone taking pictures in front of this gate. They really get in the way of traffic.)
Here we are at Wal-Mart. It is only 1 metro stop away.
I love to wander in stores and come across weird things. Do you think that a pillow will not only remove liver heat but also improve your sight?
These were pottery casseroles filled with stuff to cook at home. They were only about 16 RMB (less than $2.50.)
They had a mountain of dragon fruit.
On to the cashmere shop. I didn't take pictures, but will go back. Chuck thinks that he would like another sweater and supposedly they do this. They also sell all kinds of yarn.
Took this picture from the ladies room of a department store. It shows a courtyard house.
I am not sure if this was a bride and groom in one of their costumes, or if it was a ballroom dance couple. The photographer invited me to take some pictures. They were right outside of our hotel.
For dinner we had baby cuttlefish with shallots.
Pork ribs and baked bread
and celery with lotus

The Wal-Mart store looks awesome!
I also love shopping in chain stores in out-of-the-way places!
Your blog looks good too, Joan! I guess you figured out everything OK.
